Balham Boutique in New Series of "Mary, Queen of Shops"

Balham Bou in Hildreth Street, will be featuring in the  new TV series of ‘Mary, Queen of shops’.  The programme featuring Balham Bou will be shown on Monday 30th June at 9pm on BBC2.

The boutique, formally know as Rumpelstiltskin, enjoyed a makeover by retail guru Mary Portas during the autumn.  As part of the makeover the owners of the store, Max and Becky Maxwell, were taken to Deloitte in Fleet Street to market their clothes.  The lucky pair were also treated to London Fashion Week and a spell at posh suit-makers Turnbull & Asser.  The boutique now caters for Balham’s young professionals and stocks popular brands like FCUK and Mina UK.

Why does this matter? So what if you do know him, I am sure many others do too, and your point is???

It is his own prerogative what he does with his name. Is it not? I find it truly amazing that you did not once comment on what the whole programme was about.

It frustrates me that when there is a platform to praise people trying to do better or achieve more in their lives, there is always somebody else just lying wait in the background to find the negative or even the 'not even worth mentioning about' in them. Why is that?

Well whoever you are or whatever you want to call yourself, well done to the both of you. You managed to turn a ‘very hard to accept’ failing boutique into a beautiful and successful one with the determination and passion you have within yourself, within your business and to succeed.

Becky, you are a great stylist I am glad you have come out of your shell and are putting it to very good use. You can see you have been transformed.

Max, Vernon, Tom, Jerry or even rumplestiltskin!! We need more people like you to make a difference and hopefully show a few more young black people that they can make a difference too and maybe follow this positive example and remember not to give up!

I wish you success in the future
